Kian Fatt TAN

Tan Kian Fatt holds a Ph.D. in Chinese Studies from New Era University College. His research focuses on Johor Chinese local history, the Malayan Emergency, New Villages, and Community Building, with more than ten academic publications to date.In recent years, he has expanded his practice into filmmaking, integrating historical research with documentary storytelling, with a focus on local communities and collective memory. He is a frequent collaborator with director Chua Chi Sung, and they co-created the documentary Beyond The Ritual, bridging academic inquiry and cinematic observation.
