Golden Harvest Awards Selections
Established in 1978, the Golden Harvest Awards is Taiwan’s longest-running and most prestigious film competition dedicated to celebrating and nurturing short films. The festival covers various categories including fiction shorts, documentaries, animations, and experimental works. Functioning as a vital stepping stone for upcoming directors, the Golden Harvest Awards plays a critical “cradle” role in the ecosystem of Taiwanese and Chinese-language cinema.
Over the past decades, the awards have witnessed and supported the early steps of numerous master filmmakers. Acclaimed directors such as Ang Lee, Tsai Ming-Liang, Chung Mong-hong, and Huang Shin-Yao all received early recognition and career breakthroughs here, paving their paths to global acclaim. Far more than an award ceremony, the Golden Harvest Awards represents a continuous lineage of independent filmmaking spirit, constantly injecting fresh blood to spark creativity and vitality in cinema.
