In 1959, intellectual “Rightists” from Shenyang universities and prison inmates were sent to western Liaoning to build a railway. Focusing on lecturer Yin Shaoyao, the film records forced labor, starvation, killing, betrayal, political destruction, suppressed resistance, and humanity’s collapse under extreme ideological and physical persecution.
