Springs in Baitang: Beside the Hongshui River

Baitang Village is located beside a branch of Hongshui River, there living the simple, shy and enthusiastic Zhuang People. Women adopt the traditional ways of thread arraying, combing and threading, and the use of traditional wooden loom to weave sheets and covers. Men butcher the festival pig with all their strength, and make unique, delicious traditional food-blood soup and blood sausages.

They never face the camera, so they are shy and simple, but I was surprised to find it is the “NATURAL” I was looking for. I can’t understand their dialogue, so all I did was to follow them to shoot. From this, I realized that the most important meaning of a film camera is “COMPANY”.
