Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF) 2010-2021 10 films

Established in 1998, the Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF) is a biennial event currently organized by the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI) in Taipei. As one of Asia’s premier documentary film festivals, TIDF holds the curatorial philosophy of “Re-encounter Reality,” encouraging filmmakers to challenge aesthetic boundaries while promoting independent perspectives, humanitarian concerns, and creative freedom. Through its competitive categories, including International, Asian Vision, and Taiwan Competitions, the festival highlights works of original vision and artistic rigor.

Over the years, TIDF has evolved into more than a screening venue; it is a lively forum for filmmakers, scholars, and audiences from around the globe. By hosting forums, workshops, director Q&As, and national tours in alternate years, TIDF successfully bridges the gap between documentary cinema and the public, creating a space where pressing social issues and cinematic art can resonate and propagate.
