This film tells the story of three individuals driven to destruction by greed and suspicion. Lured by profit, a middleman intentionally creates linguistic misunderstandings; fueled by racial discrimination, their conflicts escalate; and blinded by selfishness, they choose to fend only for themselves, ultimately marching toward their doom. Meanwhile, the protagonist, a hunter, also meets his demise due to his unyielding obsession with vengeance. This is not merely a suspense story, but also a reflection of the various turmoils within human society. Through diverse plotlines and conflicts, I aim to showcase the complexity and multifaceted nature of humanity, allowing the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the characters’ actions and the consequences of their choices. I strive to craft a distinctive ethnic film that immerses the audience and evokes strong resonance. Simultaneously, I hope viewers can experience the culture and language of the endangered ethnic minorities in northern China, thereby inspiring further exploration into the future of ethnic cinema. In terms of artistic style, I pursue an approach that blends magical realism with expressionism. I use the sounds of the wind, crackling fire, and animals to build the atmosphere, alongside traditional instruments like shamanic drums and the jaw harp to highlight ethnic characteristics. Through the imagery of ice and snow, dense forests, fire, and the interplay of light and shadow, I sculpt the characters’ internal states, conveying an underlying subtext of animism as the narrative unfolds.
