Story:
Xiong Jiefeng is a young man who decided to return to the countryside of Yunnan to the farm after working in other places. This innocent young man who didn't want to go with the crowd returned to Pingzhai Village and began to plant a kind of "red corn." But the cultivation of red millet is too difficult, and the harvesting effect is not as good as the existing new varieties. Organic planting originated in China, and the technology of planting was passed down from generation to generation. Farmers and the land have always had an inexplicable historical and emotional bond. Ironically, parents who farm in the countryside hope that their children will escape the countryside through education. For Xiong Jiefeng, who knows his life but is simple and honest, finding a young girl who is willing to marry a poor farmer like herself is not much worse than the trouble of planting "Red Millet"...

Director‘s Statement:
In a post-screening discussion about a documentary about migrant workers in urban villages, some people mentioned that it is hard for him to imagine that the living conditions are so good now, how could there be people in such poor living conditions. Yes, it is indeed difficult for many people to see people living under different conditions from their surroundings. Fewer people think about the improvement of "us" living conditions is actually closely related to "their" living conditions. When some people get rich first, how do you think about the other group of people who made them rich? What is the reason? Even if living conditions do not get better, migrant workers still rush into the city every year regardless of the cost? Perhaps looking directly at the current situation in the countryside can give us some inspiration.
