Climb
Release Year: 2019
In April 2018, 15 Chinese people set foot at the base camp on the south slope of Mount Qomolangma in Nepal in a last-ditch effort to realize their Everest dream. "Why climb Mount Everest?" I made this film with that question in mind, so to speak. Of course, I know that people view Everest climbing more through a "colored" lens of curiosity. And I hope to show a more real and closer to the heart of Everest climbing.
After spending more than half a year with these mountaineers, I saw a mountaineering that was completely different from what had been shown in previous films. It's more like our everyday life, and it's not surprising to think that it all comes from our imagination and misunderstanding. So I want to tell you a common Everest climbing story: ordinary people, equal perspectives, daily details, no criteria for success, only the observation of oneself.
