"Film Auteur" is an independent magazine initiated by several independent filmmakers, which focuses on film auteurs.
During the Dragon Boat Festival period in 2012, the "Xianghui" organized by the Yunnan Film Festival was held at Ximaojia, Yueyang, Hunan. During the meeting, some filmmakers felt the need to create a space for dialogue, and thus "Film Auteur" magazine was born.
Each issue of the magazine presents the auteur's production experience, thought notes, and promotes dialogue between filmmakers, building an endogenous discourse and practical rationality in the film field. It is carefully crafted to promote creative communication and information sharing. All editorial staff are voluntary workers, and a small number of printed copies are published each issue, only for institutions and individuals in need (for a fee) to collect and exchange.
After ten years of publication, "Film Auteur" is committed to establishing a free-thinking space that is simple yet dynamic, showing the context of Chinese language independent films to the world, connecting creativity, and continuing to thrive.
《电影作者》是一本由若干独立电影人发起，专注于电影创作者的独立杂志。
2012年端午期间，云之南影展策划的“湘会”在湖南岳阳细毛家屋场举办。会议期间，部分电影作者有感于建设对话空间的必要，《电影作者》杂志应运而生。
每期杂志将呈现作者的制作经验、思想札记，生产作者间的对话，建设电影领域的内生话语及其实践理性，为促进创作交流及资讯分享而精心打造。所有编辑人员均为义务工作，每期会出版少量纸质印刷本杂志，仅供有需要的机构及个人（有偿）收藏交流。
创刊十年，《电影作者》致力于建立一个自由的思想阵地，纯朴而不失活力，向世界独立电影展示属于华语的脉络，连结创作，生生不息。
