Go Grandriders
Release Year:
2012
Story:
On November 13, 2007, under the promotion of the Hongdao Welfare Foundation for the Elderly, 17 elderly people with an average age of 81 began a 13-day motorcycle ride around the island. They set off from Taichung and traveled south through Tainan and Kaohsiung. , Pingtung, Taitung, Hualien, Yilan, Taipei, and then back to Taichung, the total distance is 1178 kilometers! Of the 17 elderly people, two had suffered from cancer, four needed hearing aids, and five suffered from high blood pressure. They passed through the steep Suhua road on the way, and went through three times in and three out of the hospital, but they overcame difficulties one by one. With a fearless heart and passionate action, this "impossible dream" in the eyes of outsiders was completed. The life course of the 17 elders was different. Some of them came from Taiwan, some came to Taiwan with the Kuomintang army, and their professions included police, veterans, priests, calligraphy teachers, hairdressers, etc. What's more interesting is that some of them came from other provinces. Grandpa doesn't speak Taiwanese, but in order to communicate with his fellows in the province, he speaks each other's language with a heavy accent. The picture is really interesting. After the 13-day trip around the island, 16 grandfathers and 1 grandmother never met to develop family-like feelings, and even said that they have become younger and more energetic!
