Story:

What is choice, and what is change? Returning to the familiar surroundings or venturing into the unknown—these are the questions every foreigner faces when studying and living abroad. As the three-year term of correspondent Chunyang in the UK nears its end, she grapples with the decision of whether to continue with the secure life her parents envision or embark on another restless three years. At this crossroads, the choice she makes reflects her contemplation of family ties, her journalism career, inner aspirations, and personal talents.

Director‘s Statement:
This is the first complete film I have produced during my time at UCL. I wanted to reflect the psychological state of people studying and living abroad, explore methods of finding oneself in everyday life, and offer it to those facing various choices. The theme of the film gradually emerged and solidified during the filming process, which was not an easy task. My subject, Liu Chunyang, is a foreign correspondent. She remains composed and restrained, approaching everything with equanimity. Growing up in an ordinary, stable family and following the conventional path, she has always been, in the worldly sense, a well-behaved child. It is precisely because of this that when faced with the choice of returning to China, her inner turmoil, seemingly free-spirited, becomes even more worth contemplating. This appears to be the opportunity for her to assess the meaning of her life. The film was shot primarily at Chunyang's home, her workplace, and her school, allowing us to observe and track her journey and life changes while guiding her to clarify her thoughts and choices.
