Director‘s Statement:
Albert Camus once described in "The Plague" that "they are impatient with the present, intolerant of the past, and uncertain of the future." This is precisely how I feel when I return to my hometown every year and observe the people there. In the barren and abandoned lands of rural Northeast China, I am most struck by the fact that everyone feels lost, both materially and spiritually. This is precisely why various religions are still so prevalent in rural Northeast China. Do people really need faith? Everyone has their own god in their hearts. The story of "My God" is merely a vessel. In this story, some people rely on gods for their illnesses, some defend their gods to the death, and some are complete pragmatists. Does that god really exist? There are too many unexplained situations in the world I inhabit. What is this world like? What lies beyond it? What is the meaning of human existence? These are all the origins and questions of my creation, and I do not know the answers.
