Jian Fan
Jian Fan is an established documentary filmmaker who has focused on a wide range of Chinese topics for more than 20 years and is a member of AMPAS Documentary Branch. His most recent work “She Dances by the Sea” was selected into the International Competition of IDFA 2024. His other films include “After the Rain,” Special Jury Mention at DOC NYC 2021, “Still Tomorrow,” winner of a Special Jury Award at IDFA 2016, “My Land” (Berlinale 2016) and “The Next Life” (IDFA 2011; Jury Prize at Guangzhou Documentary Film Festival 2011). His work has also screened in competition at Hot Docs, Full Frame, Sheffield, DMZ, and dozens of other film festivals around the world. Jian studied at the Beijing Film Academy and is now based in Chongqing, China.
