KANG Shiwei
Born in Chengdu in 1982, Kang Shiwei graduated from China Academy of Art with a master's degree in public art in 2008. He has become a professional documentary director since 2005 and is now working toward a PhD degree at Southwest Jiaotong University.
Kang Shiwei is a student mentor at Sichuan University and the art director of US-China Foundation for Education and Culture. He is also a member of China Television Artists Association, as well as a signed artist of Shanghai Zendai Art Museum.
Kang’s previous works have been selected in various film festivals including CIFF, BIFF and YUN festival. The documentary Dance On the Square Kang directed was selected by CCDF and CAADF. A 50-minute version of the documentary was acquired by CBC Canada and has been on air since May 2018. The 90-minute version was screened nationwide in China.
The ongoing documentary film Crossing Kasaya has been selected by pitching forums of CCDF, Tokyo docs, GZ Docs, and Hot Docs. The TV version has been acquired by NHK Japan and was on air in September 2018.
