Qiu Jiongjiong

Qiu Jiongjiong is an artist who starts his creation with two lines of independent film and painting. Since 2006, he has completed film works such as "Restaurant", "Rehearsal", "Huang Lao Lao", "Madame", "Xuan Tang Gossip", "Fun" and other film works. He has been selected as a Chinese independent film for many times. The ten best films in the annual exhibition, among which "Infatuation" was shortlisted for the 68th Locarno International Film Festival, MoMA International Documentary Biweekly, and the 40th Hong Kong International Film Festival. "Jiao Ma Tang Hui", which is in production, won the CNC cash prize of the Golden Horse Venture Capital Conference and the WHITE LIGHT post-production award of the Hong Kong Asian Film Investment Association. From the early dictation-oriented documentary film to the non-fiction feature film. In his video works, the stories of his hometown of Leshan and his family as a Sichuan opera family are the themes that have appeared many times. Qiu Jiongjiong’s films have attracted widespread attention, to a large extent, because of his identity as a painter. There is a kind of painterly in his films—"Qiu Jiongjiong is sensitive to theatricality and increasingly adept in the logic of film language. Jokingly portraying the mundane flavours of the little people as legendary texts greater than life, and the lyrical, intimate, and humorous audio-visual means make Qiu Jiongjiong appear to be very important in dealing with the history and political reality of the country.” (Mr. Qiu Believes, Kang Kang)
