Shen Ruilan
Born in Suzhou in 1993, SHEN Ruilan now lives and works in Hangzhou. She earned a master’s degree from Institute of Radical Visuality at China Academy of Art’s School of Intermedia Art. Her works, mainly in the form of images, explore how individuals resort to memory, religion, and myth as a means of resistance against time and existence’s lack of meaning. Her film THE CASSOCK won the Tide Award at Beijing International Short Film Festival in 2018 and was also selected for IDF Academy at West Lake International Documentary Festival in 2019.
