Wang Jiuliang
Wang Jiuliang is a Beijing-based independent documentary director and producer. He graduated from Communication University of China (School of Television & Film Art) in 2007. From 2008 to 2011, Wang Jiuliang completed Beijing Besieged by Waste, a series of photographic works and an eponymous documentary, which won a Gold Award as Outstanding Artist of the Year award at the 2009 Lianzhou International Photography Festival. From 2012 to 2016, he completed the documentary Plastic China, which was awarded the Special Jury Award at the 2016 International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and nominated at over 20 international film festivals including the Sundance Film Festival and Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival. In 2019, he was commissioned by ART for The World to participate in the film anthology Interdependence. From 2019 to 2023, he finished the documentary Seagull. Since 2022, he has been working on his latest documentary Blue Desert.
