Zhang Hong-Jie, a native of Taipei, is an independent documentary filmmaker who uses the camera to observe and record social issues. He chiefly makes documentaries about social figures and has filmed professional baseball players, reformed offenders, historic site preservation workers, female spirit mediums, indigenous people, and people involved in whale conservation. He hopes to use documentaries to explore the world and communicate with society.
