Story:
Shuangquan, a monk who returned because of the temple programme, still kept the faith in Buddhas and was out of step with the world. He was hard to get into customs. Old friend Laogou took him to meet friends, smoking and drinking, which Shuangquan all refused. Laogou went to the next county to find the prostitute to help him break the precepts and restore the customs. There he met Qing Li, an acquaintance. They were raided by anti-vice police. After that, Qing Li started a clothing store and Shuangquan opened a barber shop. Li Qing often came to his store to wash her hair, and Shuangquan drove away the men who harassed her. Gradually, she and Shuangquan had feelings for each other. Qing Li, who had suffered from emotional injury and felt insecure, only believed in money and left the town for it. In order to make a living, Shuangquan finally joined the violent demolition team, abandoned the so-called faith and ventured to survive in the chaotic world.

Director‘s Statement:
It is an era of chaotic values and beliefs, in which inexplicable violence and anger can occur at any time. A monk resumes secular life, and he would soon be surrounded by the secular world: to be rich he worships Buddha, to go to heaven he believes in Christ, to live well he is convinced of money, and to make friends he depends on constellations...Everyone is being pushed forward, as if they can never be autonomous. The monk is just a surrogate. Many people in life are "secularizing": a student who just came out of college; A doctor who entered the hospital; An aunt who decided to join the square dance; One unconsciously became the kind of person he didn't like. Just like a large piece of demolished ruins, people's hearts are also disassembled...
Through the "fable" of a monk's secularization in this film, I hope to tell about the loss of spiritual belief of a bunch of little people...
