Story:
The story revolves around Xiao Yunjie (nicknamed "Short Granny"), a left-behind child in a rural mountain village, who lives with her grandmother and two half-sisters. In a village devoid of young people, 12-year-old Yunjie not only strives to excel in her studies but also shoulders heavy household responsibilities. Her summer is a blend of hardships and fleeting joys. As winter arrives, Yunjie witnesses her friends, who are about to graduate, leaving the village one after another to head south for work. The sudden passing of her grandmother abruptly ends her relatively carefree childhood. With no other choice, Yunjie takes her two younger sisters and leaves their hometown to search for their parents, who are working in Guangzhou. However, what awaits them are unimaginable struggles and even graver challenges faced by their parents in their harsh life away from home.
