Story:
Wushan, an old town alongside the Yangtze river, has been demolished and reduced to ruins, is about to be flooded by the rising water as the first phase of the Three Gorges Dam is completed to store water and generate electricity. The new county town of Wushan just been built, and the people there, my family and friends, are spending their first Spring Festival here. Wushan has a history of thousands of years, but in the Spring Festival of 2003, wushan people in the new town began their new history...

Director‘s Statement:
Armed with a DV camera, I returned from Beijing to my hometown of Wushan during the Chinese New Year. For more than ten days of the festival, my camera was pointed at my friends and my family, capturing what was happening to them every day.
The new county town of Wushan had just been built and the people of the county, my family and my friends, were spending their first Spring Festival here.
The new county of Wushan has cabs, while a man in the ruins of the old county is selling a pile of door panels retrieved from the rubble.
I met with my friend from Wushan and wandered around the streets of the new county in order to find places where we could be entertained.
My friend's girlfriend was arrested in a fight with a man and taken into custody, and we tried to see if we could get into the custody to see her.
The intrusion of three strange girls at a coffee shop where my friends and I often met, made us forget for a moment the woman who was still in custody during the holiday season - my friend's girlfriend.
My father, who was recovering from a serious illness, insisted on taking me through the long streets of Newtown to my sister's house for a dinner party, in order to introduce me personally to the architecture of Newtown.
My six-year-old nephew who has a strange bump on his ear, but he still can't be bothered for a moment.
The three girls we met at the coffee shop who took us to their place for the night, and one of my friends had a one-night affair with the girl considered the best of them.
That on New Year's Eve, the county secretary, the biggest official in Wushan, personally lit fireworks to begin celebrating the grand "housewarming" of the entire city of Wushan.
My friend has not yet found a way to visit his girlfriend in the detention center and can only talk to us in the coffee shop about how "sexy" she is and how wonderful he is with her.
My father's bad temper was affecting the family's mood for Chinese New Year, but he was in a good mood to talk about the coffin he was going to use when he passed away.
We finally went to the guardhouse to meet the legendary grumpy girlfriend of my friend ......
