Chen Miao graduated from the Film Department of Ohio University (MFA) and the Directing Department of Beijing Film Academy. As the "sixth generation" filmmaker of the new Chinese film industry, he worked as a production manager and co-producer at Fox World Wide, a Hollywood production company in the United States, and ESPN, a national sports television network. In 2005, the filming of the feature film "Minnie" directed by Chen Miao was completed. The film integrated the accumulation of Wang Anyi's novels, starring Li Xinjie and Liu Ye; in 2006, she directed the growth film "Thirteen Years Old Girl" and participated in the 60th Cannes Film Festival. Youth competition unit, and won awards at the 2007 Beijing University Student Film Festival and Uruguay Youth Film Festival. Her film works have a smooth and multi-threaded narrative style, as well as a modern and international perspective. 2011 completed the feature film "Children of the Stars".

Chen Miao’s documentary works: "Night Shanghai", "I Belong to a Snake", and "Shanghai Cha-Cha" are known as the Shanghai Trilogy. They were broadcast on Phoenix Satellite TV, CCTV and Shanghai TV, and were nominated for Vancouver International Film Festival and Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival and many other famous international film festivals, won the 2003 UNESCO Excellent Documentary Forum Award, etc.
